July 2007 Watershed Highlight of the Month
City of San Diego
The Watershed Highlight for July 2007, goes to the City of San Diego for their exciting watershed signage program! The City met with the California Department of Transportation (CALTRANS) over the past couple of years to gain approval for a pilot watershed signage program. After gaining CALTRANS approval, multiple signs are now up along Interstate 8, Interstate 15, and State Route 67. The signs are helping to inform the San Diego community about the importance of watersheds and the protection of source waters. Check out the City’s newsletters (Issue 1 and 2) to find out how you can encourage CALTRANS to include the watershed signs in the CALTRANS family of standardized signs so that other communities throughout California can launch a similar campaign and use these signs
